SPECIAL FEATURE Every couple of months, we feature a different theme, often a single character. We encourage you to submit works on this theme gallery, and the best will be Featured! THE RULES Female Characters Only - This one is simple. Submitted works may contain only female characters, no male characters. (To keep this fair and consistent, it even includes minor male characters in the background, etc.) Comics Characters Only - This group is for artwork of female characters from comics. We don't have categories for original characters (unless they are in a comic) or for video game avatars, movie/television, books/novels, etc. because they aren't accepted. Comic characters are defined as, "having their start in comics" (not in other media sources). Subjective Moderation - The moderators of the group attempt to moderate based on the quality and artistic merit of each work. We each vote based on our opinion of each submission. Don't be discouraged if your submission isn't accepted, we try to have very high standards for the group. For more information on why we made the decision to moderate this way, please visit this blog entry. Artwork Only by Direct Artist - If you care to share an artwork that you paid for (as a commissionee), said artwork must be submitted from the artist, not the commissionee. This is to ensure all legal copyright laws are followed from both deviantART's regulations and according to the Copyright Trade. Agreement. If you wish to submit an artwork that you commissioned, request it from the deviantART artist's profile who created it. Use the Correct Folder - We sort the group based on the publisher of the comic(s) that the character comes from. Please submit works to the correct folders. (You can use Google to check if you aren't sure.) No Copyright Infringement - If we believe a work to be copyright infringement, it will be rejected. This may include tracing, unauthorized work on an original piece (i.e. coloring or inking without permission), or posting someone else's work as your own. Obviously, fan art is okay! This also includes absolutely no AI based art. AI "art" is a generating machine and uses other art from actual artist's without permission. To prevent issues with copyright, we do not accept any image that is clearly AI based. Special Rules for Your Own Published Characters - When submitting work to the "Your Published Original Characters" gallery, you must include the name of the comic book plus the publisher, website, or state of production, in the description for the deviation you are submitting. No Works in Progress - We don't accept unfinished works or works in progress, but sketches and pencils are allowed. (If a work is marked as a WIP, or clearly unfinished, it will be rejected.) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What about artwork with characters from multiple publishers? (i.e. Catwoman Vs. the Black Cat) These works can be submitted to the "Other or Multiple Publishers" folder. What about cross-publisher character mash-ups? (i.e. Iron Wonder Woman or Super-Hulk-Girl) These works can be submitted to the "Other or Multiple Publishers" folder, but moderators may consider them to be original characters. What about female versions of male characters? (i.e. Joanna Hex, Iron Woman, Hellgirl, etc.) These can be submitted to the category for the publisher of the male original, but moderators may consider them to be original characters. How do I submit to the group? - You must be a member. From, there, submitting works is very easy-- simply click on the Gallery button at the top of the page, pick the right category that your art belongs to, and there you can click 'Submit to this folder' at the upper right. How often can I submit? Each member is allowed to submit two works a month to each folder in the Gallery. The publisher of the featured character each month has this limit doubled. Each folder is counted separately. (This is enforced by group settings.) Why was my submission declined? This is a very large group with many members and tons of submissions. If you would like to know why your piece was declined, don't ask in the comments as that isn't the place to. Comment on your deviation submission and you will have a response back. We can't possibly remember everyone's pieces off-hand and can be expected to pull an answer out. If you see it's declined, then you can ask in the submission link. If you ask in the comments, you will not only be asked to stopped spamming as that would be a form of it, but you will not receive an answer. |
